Littlefield TX

Arrived in Littlefield, TX after a grueling 30 mile drive. Not really, just a flat straight road through the cotton fields ready to plant.

Found the Waylon Jennings Campground empty except for one tent camper.  

We later found out there's another section on the other side of the horse shoe pits with sewer hookups, so we moved.  

This was a much nicer area with mostly grass and more room.

In case you didn't know, Littlefield, TX is the hometown of Waylon Jennings.

Drove into "Downtown" Littlefield on a Saturday to find a ghost town.

Talking to a fellow at the Ace hardware store next to the campground, the town was thriving until the denim plant was moved to Guatemala.

Spent 4 days (the limit for free) in Littlefield with some mixed weather.  The day we arrived and the day before we left was sunny and mild (high's in the 70's).  The other two days were miserable, cold (high in the 40's), windy and overcast.  One day the wind was blowing so hard we brought the slid-out in.  We've learned these radical shifts in wind and weather are typical for spring in the west Texas pan-handle. 

Our next stop, Muleshoe, TX.  Yes, that's right, Muleshoe!  One of the listed attractions, the worlds largest mule shoe!  More to come.
