Touring the factory

May 29, 2019

Our destination today is La Grande, OR (about an hour north of Baker City) where there are two RV manufacturers, Northwoods and Outdoors RV.  In our ongoing search for something better, these two brands are well known for quality.  Both offer factory tours and we're going to take them up on it.  The plan is to attend the Northwoods tour on Wednesday at 11 am, spend the night at Walmart, then do the Outdoors RV tour on Thursday before heading toward our next destination.

Only Northwoods allowed pictures, but both manufacturing processes are remarkably similar.  One reason for that is the founder of Outdoors was also one of the founders of Northwoods.  One of Northwoods product lines bares his name, Nash.

This is where the 5th wheel bedroom goes.

Laying out the floor, silver in the center is heating duct.

Kitchen sinks ready to install.

Wet bay - center, outside storage bay - left, back of shower stall - top.

Wet bay - left, 50 amp power cord reel - center, water heater - right.

Constructing the ceiling and roof assembly.

Starting to look like a camper.

The front cap (foreground) will be attached to the front of the 5th wheel in the background. The gray roll at the top is the rubber roof material .

Coming next, Pilcher Ck Reservoir.
