Falling Waters State Park FL, revisited

Jan 8, 2020

We stopped by Falling Water SP on our way west back in 2016 (link). The area was in a drought and there wasn't much ... falling water. On top of that, they were working on the boardwalk and access to the falls was limited. With the recent abundant rain we were hoping for a better show.

Late afternoon in the Florida pine forest.

Coming next, Traveling the Gulf coast.

On to Virginia

Nov. 17, 2019

Scenic Mountian RV park in Milledgeville GA has  a very nice trail system for a private park.

After doing some laundry and a few other mondane task we took  advantage of the unexpected hiking opportunity.

This is their private fishing pond complete with a boat and oars.

The next stop was Bass Lake RV park in Dillon SC, a pleasent but un-remarkable park.

Nov. 24, 2019

After a couple more nights in Walmarts and 21 days since turning east, we arrive at Pocahontas State Park (link).

We spen't a week here while visiting with family for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Sorry, forgot to take a campsite picture.

Dec. 1 2019

Now we're heading south on I-95, with about half the population of the east coast.  The destination is our old stomping grounds, Salt Springs FL.

Ocmulgee National Monument

Nov. 17, 2019

The next leg of the journey took us through Macon GA.  Looking at the map I noticed the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park (link).

Being a short travel day we stopped to have a look.

Construction began on the Art Deco visitors center in 1938 but wasn't  completed until 1951 due to WW II.

Here's some info. from the park brochure...

A little fall color.

Walking toward the Earth Lodge.

Looking west toward the Great Temple Mound, notice the people standing on top.

Taking a break

Lady bugs  were everywhere.

We took the long way back to the visitors center, passing through this historic bridge.

Here's some exibits from the visitors center...
