We stayed at Bully Creek Park outside Vale, OR till the end of Memorial Day.
It rained almost every day but it was spotty and never very hard or long.
It's been a good winter for precipitation.
The Rinehart Stone House, 1873, became a stage coach station on the old Oregon Trail. Now it's the town's history museum.
Seems like every little town we visit has murals depicting local history.
The primary industry in Vale is agriculture, and the predominate crop is onions...
… that's a lot of onions!
Our next destination was the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center outside Baker City, OR.
Elkhorn Mountains west of Baker City, OR.
Right across the road from the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center and 3 miles down an excellent gravel road is the Virtue Flats OHV area. This is BLM land with a nice gravel area for dispersed (free) camping. Arriving in the late afternoon of the 3 day weekend, everyone was gone except for a few dirt bikes who left at the end of the day. That left us and the cows.
The original plan was to stay one night after visiting the Oregon Trail Center. After spending much of the next day in Baker City doing laundry and some shopping, and being in no big hurry, we stayed another night. Besides, Joan enjoyed watching the cows!

Glad you two are enjoying this lifestyle. We miss it, especially when I read where others are or what you are doing. We are very happy here in the The Villages, though. Continued safe travels.
