Red Rock Canyon Scenic Loop

May 11, 2020

Tuesday morning we were up bright and early for our "reserved" time window (1 hour) to begin driving the Scenic Loop.  I assume the scheduled entry is because of the canyon's proximity to a major metropolitan center (Las Vegas).

Here's some pic's from the drive and hikes...

Joan called these "Ma & Pa", can you see the faces?

Joan the conqueror!

View from High Point Overlook, about 1000 ft above the valley floor.

One of the trails led to "Signs of the past".

Clearly visible hand prints on the upper left.

The La Madra Springs trail, our last hike for the day,  started about 3/4 of a mile up a jeep road from the nearest parking.

By the time we got to the trailhead we were hot and tired, deciding to save it for another time.

Back in camp, we sat in the shade of the camper and enjoyed happy hour.

For the 3 days in Red Canyon Campground, the high's were mid 80's the first 2 days and 90's the last day.

This is no dark sky location! The Los Vegas suburbs are just 3 miles away and glow from city lights up the mountians south of the campground.

Coming next, Kraft Mountain Loop?
